About
Let me give you some background information about myself and my home daycare philosophy. As a previous working mother of two, aged 3 and 8, I know first hand what a struggle it is to find a daycare that is affordable, reliable and provides the peace of mind that your child is being taken care of to your standards. While working in Customer Service for a few years I had chosen to place my children in private home daycares as I prefer a "home away from home" feel as opposed to the larger more "pre school" type child care. The Flowerchild home daycare "family" is limited to 4 spots, with preference given to Full Time applicants. This is within the Ontario legislation for Unlicensed Private Home Daycare Guidelines. https://www.ontario.ca/page/child-care-rules-child-care-and-early-years-act#section-1 After some less then savoury experiences with several daycare providers I decided I would open a home daycare a few years after my first child was born. I was quite successful and after my last group went off to school I went back to work outside the home. When I became pregnant with my second child I decided to host a new daycare family.
Because we have a smaller group setting I am able to cook natural home made nutritious meals for the children every day. We eat a mini breakfast during drop off and full breakfast when everyone has arrived. We then have lunch followed by two snacks. We eat based on the four food groups and the Ontario Healthy Eating Guide. I am open to vegetarian diets as well as lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, we are NOT a NUT FREE home.
We enjoy the outdoors daily, weather providing, all year round. Flowerchild daycare attendees are asked to bring seasonally appropriate clothing. We enjoy playing in leaves in the fall, splashing in spring puddles and making snow men in the winter months. I believe it is important to teach the children to appreciate our Canadian seasonal changes.

I obtained services from this family / home daycare, dayhome and I find that:
"My usual daycare provider cancelled last minute, I was stuck with less than 24 hours to find a new daycare for my 2 yr old son. I was recommended Flowerchild Daycare from a coworker and I couldnt be happier! Super flexible, safe and fun environment for my son. He is always happy to go and he loves playing with the other kids. His vocabulary has improved and I love his interaction with the other kids. This is an excellent daycare and I would definitely recommend it to everyone!"

"I had my daughter 8 and son 2 with Erin when she lived in Ottawa.
The kids loved going to her place, they always had some story to tell about the day. I work retail hours and she was very flexible with me and was opened on some holidays which was good for me. Alicia, my daughter would ask to go to her place because Erin spends a lot of time outside and doing arts and crafts. My children were fed breakfast, lunch and snacks that we're all healthy and homemade which I like. The only reason we stopped going to Erin is because we had to move to Montreal. My kids miss Erin and wish she moved here too!"

"I am so glad I found Erin. She treats my child like her own and my 2 year old can already sense how loved she is at Erin's. She runs happily down the hall to go inside every morning. Erin always greets us happily and she updates me at the end of the day of what my daughter did and ate that day. Erin provides clean safe place and home cooked meals and snacks. She takes the children out to the park all the time, reads to them and does cool arts and crafts. My daughter learned so much from Erin-- she is so into alphabets and books and loves to dance to nursery rhymes. I can now work at peace and not worry about my child at all when she is with Erin. I will for sure send my baby again to Flowerchild home daycare if I have another one."

When indoors we have a balanced day that follows a flexible schedule. Our daily activities will always include ABC's phonics and speaking/reading (age appropriate), Arts & Crafts, Dance & Sing A Long, Circle/Story time, Free play with age appropriate toys, nap/quiet time (age appropriate) and a limited amount of educational children's programming (movie or selected television show). Having a small group allows us to do a lot of child driven learning where we will focus on a theme the children are particularly interested in; i.e Shapes, animals, dinosaurs, weather, shadow and light play, etc.
Please feel free to contact me via email, phone or text to schedule a meeting and learn more about current openings and fees.
